What Is Crane Magic:
A topic that seems to generate much interest is 'Crane Magic'.
This form of magic is properly called corrguinech.
Lugh was a practicioner of Crane Magic, and used this against
the Fomorii at the second Cath Maig Tuired (1). In fact, its use
in the lore is always martial in context (2). That Crane Magic
is associated with the Druids and Filidh of old does not negate
the martial applications. There are also examples in the lore of
druids and filidh being, or having been, warriors. In addition,
Fergus Kelly in The Guide To Early Irish Law makes a statement
that helps define it as a magic that kills. Kelly writes:

According to Lady Gregory's Gods and Fighting Men (4), the Crane
Bag was owned by Manannan mac Lir (who is intrinsically
connected with cranes). It was fabricated from the skin of Aoife
after she was transformed into a crane. This bag contained
treasures which were only visible at high tide (the bag was full
at high tide and empty at low tide). These treasures include:
Manannan's house, ****rt, and knife; Goibniu's belt and smith's
hook; the King of Alba's shears; the King of Lochlann's helmet;
the belt of fish-skin; the bones of Asal's pig (the same pig
which Lugh commanded the Sons of Tuirenn to retrieve in payment
for their having killed his father). The Crane Bag was an object
that, according to mythology, belonged to the Gods; as
previously stated it belonged to Manannan, but passed to ***al
before coming into the possession of Fionn. There is no evidence
that such a relic was actually employed by anyone other than the
deific personages in lore. However, inside the lore, it was
attached to warriors, even as Crane Magic was employed in a
martial way. Thus, another name for the article in the lore is,
the 'Treasure Bag of the Fianna' (5).
It is interesting to consider the poetic meter in use as a part
of a martial attack, and, as described by Kelly, a killing
technique.

Hi, my name's Michelle, and a gigantic white crane crashed into
my apartment building this afternoon. How was your day?
As you may have heard, a crane from a midtown Manhattan
construction site smashed into two neighboring apartment
buildings this afternoon, killing at least four workers and
stranding several others. The accident was described by Mayor
Bloomberg as "one of the worst the city has had" -- an
observation with which I'm prejudicially inclined to agree.
Basically, at around 2:20 p.m., I was in my bedroom checking
email when I heard a big CRACK outside my window, which directly
faces the condominium being built on the north side of
East 51st Street.
At first, I just saw random debris -- dust, pieces of brick --
falling. Then I watched the crane that has greeted me every
morning for the past couple months separate from the condo
building and slowly tumble into the wall to the right of me. I
was too stunned to be scared. The crane didn't exactly fall like
it does in the movies. Its descent was rather slow and leisurely
before its crash into our building.
Formerly merry St. Patrick's revelers patronizing the area's
bars were shocked silent. Our doormen were frantically ran
around, and trying to evacuate everyone from the building, and
it wasn't until we were a couple feet away that we could see the
white base of the crane leaning into the top of our building.

shelf by a text book shaped guinea pig that has had its feet
gnawed away by its own uncle, who has jumped away into the
darkness since its pet two-by-four died of AIDS

What do all those origami cranes mean?
Sadako Sasaki was a two year old girl living in Hiro****ma, Japan
in August of 1945 when the city was destroyed by the first
atomic weapon used in war. As a result, she developed leukemia.
Inspired by the legend that if you folded 1,000 paper cranes in
your life you would be granted a wish. Sadako died in 1955 at
age 12. She had completed 644 cranes.
Sadako's classmates folded the remaining 356 cranes and later
raised money for a monument to her in Peace Memorial Park in
Hiro****ma. The origami crane became a symbol of the peace
movement in the years that followed. I use the image of the

Gerry Crane was a well-liked music teacher at Byron Center High

city administrators voted to bar it. Organizers had hoped about
1,000 people might attend.

bottles, rocks, eggs and threats at party-goers.
"Russian orthodox priests blessed skinhead protesters outside
the venue," as they prepared to attack the club, re****ted GayNZ.

Crane memorial effort picking up steam

Thomas - an experienced origamist - can fold 36 paper cranes
in one hour.
Which means to fold 33,000 for the Virginia Tech shooting
victims by himself would take a very long time.
However, he won't be doing it alone.
Three days after the Virginia Tech massacre, Thomas, a Hanford
Sentinel pressman, pledged he'd make 33,000 origami cranes - 1,
000 for each victim - as a memorial to the victims of the
Virginia Tech tragedy. To date, 2,405 cranes have been completed.
The first ****pment will be sent out next week.
Among those who have joined the effort are members of Fresno
City College's Upward Bound program, various church groups, a
Fowler 4-H group, fellow Sentinel employees, employees of Fish
and Things in Tulare, employees of Prime Tax Service of Tulare
and local origami enthusiasts
What to know
Crane workshops - Thomas will be teaching free crane workshops
tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the Thursday Night Market Place in
Hanford and Fridays at 5 p.m. at the Kings Art Center, 605 N.
Douty St.
James Ragsdale will also be teaching a folding class from 2 to 6

I was being carried by a white crane above Hiro****ma. I saw
seasons turn from spring to summer to fall over our seven hills
and seven rivers. When winter came, everything was dead. Nothing
moved; not a single sound.
Suddenly a flash of all consuming light, followed by a deafening
sound as if all things had been sucked up into huge roar. An
immense ball of fire flew across the sky wrapping around the
white crane. I held onto its legs, but I was only eight years
old and it slipped away. Alone, sitting on a boulder, I cried
and cried. Then a swirling of monarch butterflies covered the
sky. In the lead was a beautiful white butterfly. "
"Taka****! Always remember to stay true to yourself", came the
same voice as the crane, now a butterfly. As it fluttered before
me, music as I have never heard before filled my body.
Then I woke up. The next day, the bomb . . .
