GRIFFITH ELECTRIC
Understanding our world, making sense of it all...
The wars between Mods and Rockers,
the electrical storm at the Lady Foot Locker,
the satellite dishes, the dead men sleeping with the fishes,
the men in the flying machines,

What was God thinking?
The testimony before the Board of Trade,
The lesbians having the Pride Parade,
The football team, winning one for the Gipper,
The assassination plot called "Operation Zipper",
The Anglo Zulu War troops, the spinning of the Hula-Hoops

You know that big ELECTRICAL STORM we had last week?
The one that took out the "Lady Foot Locker" down at the mall?
Well, that storm was sent by lesbians to punish all the Muslimentalists.
You know, the ones that had that parade.
That's right. The same ones who are behind FIVE DOLLAR A GALLON GASOLINE.

Bill Griffiths (August 20, 1948 - September 13, 2007) was a poet
and Anglo-Saxon scholar associated with the British Poetry
Revival.
Griffiths was born in Kingsbury, Middle***.[1] As a teenager, he
became a Hells Angel, and his experiences with bikers provided
material for many of his early poems. From 1971, these poems
were published in Poetry Review, under the editor****p of Eric
Mottram, and by Bob Cobbing's Writers Forum. He also
collaborated on a number of performance poetry pieces with
Cobbing and others.
Griffiths soon started his own imprint, Pirate Press, which
published work by himself and other like-minded poets. In
addition to Cobbing and other Writers Forum poets, Griffiths
listed his early influences as Michael McClure, Muriel Rukeyser,
John Keats, George Crabbe, Gerard Manley Hopkins and Old English
poetry.
In 2000 he was commissioned to catalogue the archive of the
Northern Sinfonia and to produce a commemorative book about the
orchestra. Two years later he organised an exhibition in his
adopted home of Seaham which was seen by the Queen on her Golden
Jubilee Tour.

Puma at Lady Foot Locker
OK, so I may literally had to have a fire lit under me to get me
to buy a new gym/boxing bag (have I mentioned that I have been
boxing for 9 years?).
Yesterday, before I got my hair colored by the fabulous Helik at
Dop Dop Salon in Soho, I stopped in the nearby Lady Foot Locker
(a store that I don't believe I have ever stepped foot in before)
to utilize one of the gift cards that the old school crew gave
me to cheer me up and help me buy emergency replacement items.
I picked up the stately black-and-gold Puma bag (poorly)
depicted in the camera phone photo you see here. I also bought a
purple MasterLock today at Paragon S****ts so my whole current
gym vibe is leaning towards "royal." And I am feeling like a
queen in my new digs, so it all makes perfect sense.

There was a sense then, that if we wanted to turn over
patriarchy--we could." In that spirit, with possibilities
opening to women in such dramatic new ways, Seajay decided that
she wanted to be an electrician. She signed up with a women's
trade group to be trained once she passed the union admission
tests, but the waiting list for training was 2 1/2 years, due to
the bad economy at the time. So, while waiting she went to a
local free school operating at the time and took cl***** like,
Lesbianism, Socialism and Feminism and Criticism and Self-
criticism. This deepened her love of reading as well as her
lesbian identity.
The week before the Women in Print conference, Seajay got notice
that she could finally get into an electrician's class.

Connect the Polka Dots
Tracing the chicken dance through UW history
By Susan Lampert Smith '82
Anyone who's been to Camp Randall on a football Saturday has
seen the Badger faithful in the grips of a strange, avian-borne
affliction.
The earliest references to the song come from the 1950s in Davos,
Switzerland. Accordion player Werner Thomas is credited with
writing an oom-pah song called "Der Ententanz" or "The Duck
Dance." The dance evolved during the 1960s, and within the next
decade, it was played in many countries, under names ranging
from "Vogerltanz" to "Danse des Canards" to "Dance Little Bird."
We could bring back Jabo - maybe find a grandmotherly German
waitress or two - and put them on a stage with Bucky Badger at
half time. Eighty thousand people flapping and tweeting would be
a sight to behold - leaving no doubt that it's the chicken dance,
and not the Hokey Pokey, that's really what it's all about.

The plan to assassinate JFK was called OPERATION ZIPPER because
the target allegedly had trouble keeping his up. According to
Douglas, the assassination weapons were two 7.65 surplus
Argentine Mausers and a specially constructed .223 calibre rifle,
which was supplied with mercury-filled bullets. (In his video,

ON CONNECTING THE DOTS
by John H. Lienhard
Click here for audio of Episode 919.
Today, a cat helps me see how to connect the dots -- and make
the picture whole. The University of Houston's College of
Engineering presents this series about the machines that make
our civilization run, and the people whose ingenuity created
them.
I like pointillism -- Seurat's paintings, newspaper photos
emerging from clouds of tiny black dots. But what happens when
the whole fails to emerge, and we're left with only dots?
Twenty-two years ago I sat in an outdoor cafe with four
colleagues. We wondered aloud whether or not we should let
students use pocket calculators when they took tests. How would
they ever learn to use their slide rules!
That sounds so foolish today. A few years later slide rules went
the way of dinosaurs. As we sat in that cafe, their death was as
certain as yours and mine, and it was far more imminent.
Still, there never was any real hope of keeping slide rules. And
there can be no question that we have to fully and rapidly
embrace the computer today. Our job as teachers is that of
giving our students the multi-dimensional, multi-textured
context they lost when they left slide rules and paper graphs
behind.
When we're careless, we let computers give us only dots. Our job
as engineers, teachers, information specialists, and human
beings is to display the mosaic and connect the dots. It is to
bring knowledge all the way back from the computer to sensate
reality. The cat in my lap understands. And now -- so must I.
I'm John Lienhard, at the University of Houston, where we're
interested in the way inventive minds work.

Zulu, Texas was the first building North of the Canadian River
built by white men, Robert and James Cator, in 1875. It became
a major depot on the Ft. Dodge-Ft. Bascom military road. Zulu
Stockade was also used as a post office and trading post for a
number of years. A replica of the original Zulu was constructed
in 1993 on the museum grounds.
When Spearman was founded on a branch of the Sante Fe Railroad
in 1920, this four room cottage was built for the station master
and his family. He represented a business vital to the economy
of the area. He supervised passengers and freight service,
operation of the telegraph, loading and unloading the US Mail.
In the 1920's, the station here was especially busy handling
supplies and equipment for oil and gas fields in the Texas
Panhandle.

**THE HISTORY OF ZULU**
A 97 year old cattleman who still saddles up and works at
branding time, Marshall Cator, still sits tall in the saddle as
a living legend of the Golden Spread.
Finding farming in America, different from farming in England,
the brothers decided to become buffalo hunters, which they
continued until 1877. The next year they began ranching along
the North Palo Duro Creek in Hansford County. They built a house
and started a store they called the Zulu Stockade, because they
considered their territory wild as the Zulu Land of Africa.
Many of the decedents of the Cators and Billy Dixon remain as
ranchers in the area. The Panhandle of Texas is rich with the
history and stories of these fascinating pioneers and the way of
life they lived is still very similar to the way life is still
lived today.
Governor's Mansion
The Texas Governor's Mansion!
This premier historic home of Texas has served as the official
residence of Texas governors and their families since 1856. It
is the fourth oldest governor's residence continuously occupied
in the United States and the oldest governor's mansion west of
the Mississippi River.
Amarillo was originally named Oneida and it is situated in the
Llano Estacado region
The city was once self-proclaimed as the "Helium Capital of the
World" for having one of the country's most productive helium
fields.[5] The city is also known as "The Yellow Rose of Texas"
Pantex, the only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly
facility in the country, is also a major employer.
------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines07/0221-08.htm
By about 2000, the leaks in Pantex's roof were so bad that
workers had to cover bombs with plastic when it rained. In
summer 2004, a power overload tripped transformers, causing a
plant-wide blackout. Last July, another electrical failure
occurred when rats gnawed through wiring, according to weekly
safety re****ts. And in August, a storm swept over the plant that
left standing puddles in nuclear production areas.
In one case, involving the disassembly of a missile warhead,
technicians improperly used red vinyl tape to secure a crack in
the high explosives surrounding the plutonium sphere of the
hydrogen bomb. The use of the tape itself was not faulted, but
technicians misread engineering instructions and caused an even
bigger crack.

Learning to Contain Underground Nuclear Explosions
By Dr. Robert R. Brownlee
I'll add that we learned a lot with our series of low-yield
tests. Plugs helped, but the closer to the nuclear device, the
better.
"Tamping" the device is better yet, and there are some
ways to do that which are more clever than others. Mostly we
learned that even an empty hole could cause a reduction to the
atmosphere of as much as 90 percent, depending on specific
design parameters. Later we were to see that if the hole is deep
enough and the yield is high enough, an empty hole will close
completely, allowing nothing whatsoever out except the initial
light, which is not radioactive of course. In time, the tests
became very sophisticated-and expensive, but we were able to
achieve complete containment for almost every test, and for all
but a handful of those that had containment "failures", nothing
was detected off site. So I would judge our containment efforts
to be quite successful. The case for these views are pretty well
laid out in the book Caging the Dragon, by Carothers.

I returned to the United States a changed woman.
Besides the fact that I had just come out as a lesbian, I was
inspired by the Hibakusha and their request for us to take
their words to the American people. Together with eight
other women I organized a cross-continental walk from
Bangor, Wa****ngton, the home of the Trident nuclear
submarine, to the PanTex nuclear weapons plant in
Amarillo, Texas, birthplace of all U.S. nuclear warheads
In the park, after the march, I spotted the huge
teepee belonging to Gay American Indians. I went up to
talk to the people at the table and sign their mailing list. As
I rounded one side of the teepee, I spotted the figure of a
woman sitting and talking with a few others. It was the
head woman Sundancer!
After a short exchange of, "I didn't know you were
a lesbian!" and "When did you come out?" ' she introduced
me to her lover, who is the sister of a prominent Sundancer.
She told me that she was coming out in the community and
was going to try to Dance again that year.

BROAD STREET REVIEW
Bare Bard
LEWIS WHITTINGTON
Pig Iron Theatre doesn't hedge its theatrical bets with Isabella,
a spare 70-minute version of "Measure for Measure" that sets
Shakespeare's tragicomedy in a morgue and performing it in the
****. Their reason to dare so disabuse the Bard is actually
simple: The players are conceived as re-animated corpses.
Zombies doing iambic pentameter is the sort of notion that could
implode quicker than a "Saturday Night Live" sketch. But, once
again, Pig Iron's theatrical inventions are not only
experimental- and in this case risky in the extreme- but vital
theater.
The beautiful body electric
Whether the actors are required to look as if they were in rigor
mortis or breaking into an undead minuet, it's almost a gift to
the audience in the message that the body electric is always
beautiful. The cast is no less courageous in allowing their
bodies to appear so completely flaccid and even grotesque.

The historic Flat Iron Building still stands as a symbol of
Griffith Electric Supply Co., Inc., at the intersection of Broad
Street and Second Street in the heart of what was Trenton's
industrial center.
Here in 1938 a young couple took a chance they could make a
living selling electrical supplies and created a company that
today sup****ts over 50 employees and supplies many of our states
finest contractors with electrical material to feed the
construction boom of our time.
Bill and Meta Griffith would make a good case study of the young
entrepreneurs of the era. Starting with a wing and a prayer,
they weathered political, economic and social storms over a half-
century, staying strong in their belief in the heart of
community. Their small business moved along steadily, gaining
strength and momentum to become a vital part of New Jersey's
economy.
In this ever changing industry, Griffith Electric is a leader in
our market area, in sales and service. Griffith's steadfast
reputation for integrity and honesty is well known. This
reputation was developed by Bill and Meta Griffith and passed on
to the many employees that have sup****ted their efforts
throughout the years.

www.billygriff.sathosting.net/m1.htm
A petition was presented to the Council from potato dealers,
greengrocers, fruiterers, and others... 'We request the removal
of the country people.'
They were littler for a start. Not dwarf or misshapen, but
uncomfortably midget in size, and all much of a height. So that
the old-farrant guiser among them might have been the grand-dad
or the father, and the simple quean who always liked to rock
something in her arms and croon a lullaby might have been his
grand-daughter or his wife. They never said who they were or
talked about themselves. Only "they were from the country."
Each little mannikin was charged at threppence, and they would
only accept a silver threepence at that. ("Country folk!"
laughed one wife, as she searched her purse.) Perhaps they
selled one or two a day, for superstition is reasonably rife
where there is always the risk of pit accident or storm at sea,
or of a bairn getting the smit.
Once an irate stall-holder confronted them about this. "What're
thir bites out of ma bread?" he demanded to know. "Have ye
little hoits been at ma stock?" The eldest (apparently) - and
incidentally the only one of them that ever talked, it was noted -
took the loaf from him, examined the marks, held them up to his
own jaw (to show the difference in size), and commented "Meece."
"Nae guid," he added, and hoyed the loaf over his shoulder. The
little wifie beside him scuttled after it, picked it up, wrapped
it in her shawl and thereafter cradled it, day in day out, as
her own little babby. She even jabbed in some currents for its
eyes. "And wheese stall did they com fra, A'd like ti knaa,"
commented one, as if two currents mattered.
Where did they live? Another mystery. If asked, the old guizer
would simply respond, "Up t'dale" and that was that
She incor****ated the two currants in the doll by fixing them on
prickly bits of the head, said some words her own ganny had
learn'd her, then had her young assistant clamber aloft and hang
it up with thread from the rafters of the market, half way
between heaven and earth. The tribe of country marketeers
gathered round in horror. Even if the one of them stood on the
shoulders of the other till they were five or six high, they
couldn't reach it.tumble and clamber as thei might. And the
spell clearly worked on them, this time. One by one they hunched
up and stole out, as though shunning some powerful force, the
mental equivalent of a hurricane perhaps, or a forest fire.

William Griffiths VC (1841 - 22 January 1879) was born County
Roscommon and was an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the
highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of
the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces
On 7 May 1867 at the island of Little Andaman, eastern India, in
the Bay of Bengal, Private Griffiths was one of a party of five
(David Bell, James Cooper, Campbell Mellis Douglas and Thomas
Murphy) of the 2/24th Regiment, who risked their lives in
manning a boat and proceeding through dangerous surf to rescue
some of their comrades who had been sent to the island to find
out the fate of the commander and seven of the crew, who had
landed from the ****p Assam Valley and were feared murdered by
the cannibalistic islanders.
He was killed in action, in the Battle of Isandhlwana, Zululand,

Show brass had seen her perform at Duke's in Waikiki. So, she
was pegged to play the throaty, vamp-like 'Sally,' whose role
was a strong element in the two-parter, 'Number One With A
Bullet.'
The Lords often invited her (and Zulu as well, she stated, of
whom Jack never spoke unkindly after the former's dismissal from
the show), to dine with them at their condominium. She looks
back on these as very special, quality occasions. Somewhat ahead
of current times with respect to nutritional concerns, the Lords
however always asked about the freshness of the food
A rather intriguing technique taught to her by Jack, she
described, was that of drinking distilled water in a cup, upside-
down, allowing the water to escape through one's nostrils.
Supposed to be an excellent means of clearing any sinus blockage.
(As would be most likely to result, it's presumed, if the
possible asphyxiation were staved off!)
A few weeks later, her picture was in the Honolulu papers, as
she strummed her ukulele and sang at Zulu's Waikiki memorial
service.

www.azwrs.com/links.php
Just before dawn on the morning of 28 March 1879, to the
accompaniment of a dramatic electrical storm, British troops,
consisting largely of Irregular horsemen and African auxiliaries,
launched an attack on the Zulu stronghold of Hlobane mountain.
What was to happen next would account for the second largest
British butcher's bill of the entire Zulu campaign - dwarfed
only, but inevitably, by iSandlwana - for after a running fight
which spluttered on for much of the day the British were driven
off the mountain leaving 200 dead behind them, including no less
than fifteen officers. The exact number of African auxiliaries
killed in the battle was never determined, and many of the dead
were only sought out and buried months later; some never were. A
good deal of the blame for the failure of the expedition can be
laid at the door of the senior commander of the Left Flank
Column, Sir Evelyn Wood, who embarked upon it with inadequate
intelligence, mixed objectives, and despite warnings that a
major Zulu army was about to enter the theatre en route from
oNdini. Nor did the battle go well for Wood personally; at one
point his escort came under fire, and two of his staff were shot
dead in front of his eyes.
But these are minor quibbles in what remains a hugely im****tant
study of a neglected theatre of the war, and a perceptive re-
appraisal of its defining battle.
More than that, The Boiling Cauldron is that increasingly rare thing -
a thoroughly researched, original and worthwhile contribution to the
literature of the Anglo-Zulu War.

Great Zulu Shaman and Elder
CREDO MUTWA
On Alien Abduction & Reptilians
It has often been said that the Native Elders of any given
tribe hold the keys to knowledge. This statement has never been
more clearly confirmed than in the recent interview I had the
great privilege to conduct with Zulu "Sanusi" (Shaman) Credo
Mutwa, now nearing eighty years of age
I first heard about Credo Mutwa five years ago, only at that
time it didn't seem possible to speak with him directly by
telephone, as he lives in a somewhat remote area with no phone.
Credo Mutwa is a man whom David Icke describes as: "The most
amazing and knowledgeable man it has been my privilege and honor
to call a friend, a genius." After speaking with Credo Mutwa, I
couldn't agree more.
I would like to comment that Credo Mutwa, while not a man of
formal education, was kind enough and conscientious enough to
spell all of the Zulu or African words, proper names, etc. for
this article. Those of you who may be African scholars will
find this level of accuracy more advantageous to your research
than will the average reader, however such care taken by Credo
is yet another facet of his honesty and precision.
Credo Mutwa: The Zulu people, who are famous as a warrior
people, the people to whom King Shaka Zulu, of the last century,
belonged. When you ask a South African White anthropologist
what the name of Zulu means, he will say it means "the sky"
(laughter), and therefore the Zulu call themselves "people of
the sky". That, sir, is non-sense. In the Zulu language, our
name for the sky, the blue sky, is sibakabaka. Our name for
inter-planetary space, however, is izulu and the weduzulu, which
means "inter-planetary space, the dark sky that you see with
stars in it every night", also has to do with traveling, sir.
The Zulu word for traveling at random, like a nomad or a gypsy,
is izula.
Now, sir, this story has got many versions in it. Throughout
South Africa, amongst many tribes, you'll find stories of these
amazing creatures who are capable of changing from reptile to
human being
So, there ARE such creatures. Where they come from, I will
never claim to know, sir. But they are associated with certain
stars in the sky, and one of these stars is a large group of
stars which is part of the Milky Way, which our people call
Ingiyab, which means "The Great Serpent". And there is a red
star, a redish star, near the tip of this huge rim of stars
which our people call IsoneNkanyamba.
Now, this star called IsoneNkanyamba, I managed to find its
English name. It is the star called Alpha Centauri, in English.
Now, this, sir, is something that is worth investigating. Why
is it that well over 500 tribes in parts of Africa which I've
visited in the last 40 or 50 years or so, all of them describe
similar creatures?
Credo Mutwa: Now, let me point out an interesting thing, sir.
If you study the languages of all African nations, you find
within the languages of our people words which are similar to
Oriental, Middle-Eastern, and even Native American words. And
the word Imanujela means "the Lord who came". A word that
anyone can discover in Rwanda, amongst the Rwandan Hutu and
Watusi people, is very similar to the Herbrew word Immanuel,
which means "the Lord is with us". Imanujela, "the ones who
came, the Lords who are here".
Please forgive me, but I must share this story with you. It is
one of the strangest stories that you find everywhere in Africa
in shamanic secret societies and other places where the remnant
of our ancient knowledge and wisdom are still preserved.
And before I knew what was happening, this creature stuck
something that was like a small, silver, ball-point pen with a
cable at one end, it pushed this thing, coldly, into my right
nostril.
Sir, the pain was out of this world. Blood splattered all over.
I choked and tried to scream, but the blood got into my throat.
It was a nightmare. Then, it pulled the thing out and I tried
to fight and sit up.
It was as if there had been a flood and the buildings were
sticking up out of this great flood, partly destroyed by a
disaster of some kind, and it was a terrible sight.
And then, before I knew it, one of the creatures, the one
standing next to my feet, drove something into my organ of
manhood, but here there was no pain, just a violent irritation,
as if I was making love to something or someone.
And then, when the creature withdrew the thing, which was like a
small, black tube which it had forced into my organ of manhood,
I did something which produced a strange result, and I did not
do it intentionally. I think it was-my bladder opened, and I
urinated straight into the chest of the creature which had
pulled the thing out of my organ.
It was a metal creature, a robot of some kind. And it came and
it stood near my feet, its whole body clumsily bent, looking
down at me. There was no mouth. There was no nose. There were
just two bright eyes, which seemed to change color, and seemed
to move somehow, like the crackling of an electrical device.

Electrical Distribution System Overview
Modern power grids are extremely complex and widespread. Surges
in power lines can cause massive network failures and permanent
damage to multimillion-dollar equipment in power generation
plants. After electricity is produced at power plants it has to
get to the customers that use the electricity.

more and more ridiculous as it progresses, and we seem to be
mounting to one bloody Hell of a climax scene. Between the
vergers getting pissed on and the kids getting eaten and the
glowing red eyes spinning like satellite antennas, they better
have something flat out awesome up their sleeve.
Trust me, they won't let us down.
In some convoluted way I can't express in words, Howard uncovers
the secret weapon with which to defeat Rex. In an enchanted foot
locker (really) inside the church, a boiling hot and spooky red
interior (really) hosts a statue of a woman.
Arriving just at the nick of time despite having no idea that
her husband was at the graveyard or even where the graveyard was
since they don't even live in this country, Elaine holds the
well-chiseled happy clam over her head, causing an electrical
storm to flow through the field. Not just any electrical storm,
though -- the longest electrical storm in history.
